Journalists converge at New York's International Auto Show to vote for the World Car of the Year. In 2010 a $20,000 hatchback took the title.
The Volkswagen Polo was selected from 30 other entries on this year's ballot, nominated by 59 journalists hailing from 25 countries across the globe. The VW Polo beat some strong competitors including luxury make Mercedes-Benz with its E-Class and the Toyota Prius.
